December 17, 2008 – The Region of Chernivtsi in Ukraine is the most heavily affected by unemployment and has the lowest number of women employed. For this reason it was chosen for a project of the International Labour Organization (ILO), supported by Ireland, on the prevention of illegal migration and trafficking in women..
Yulia, a young woman from Ukraine, still remembers the days when she worked in the backstage world of fashion in Milan, the capital of Italian couture. Today, wearing a simple black blouse and blue sky, she explains how she became a stylist in his own country.
The owner of the workshop was advised to return to Ukraine in order to obtain all the necessary documents. She returned home with the intention of returning to Italy.
She managed to rent at a reasonable price for a room in his workshop – a classroom in a former school. There is plenty of room for sewing machines, mannequins and fitting rooms. One of his friends renovated the room while she bought the necessary equipment.
The quality of work is also a key to success. A satisfied customer will certainly recommend your services to friends.
Yulia has received a pilot microcredit project launched in 2006 and attended the ILO Project on prevention of trafficking of women that prevails in the Chernivtsi region since November 2003. The pilot project provides assistance to persons who are or may be illegal migrants or trafficked in the fields of vocational training, job placement and entrepreneurial activities.
